Ministry vs Program

In Jan 2006 I experienced dance in a new way! I was asked to start what was suppose to be a "dance ministry" and because I was new to the church I was hesitant but accepted the role! I had no idea what ministry was and was not led in a way that I would truly discover the meaning until God intervened.
Initially, I taught ballet, sought success, informed members of what they could get and arranged social functions. Slowly, I began to feel unfulfilled and empty so I went to God in prayer. He gave me a vision to use dance as evangelism outside of the walls of the church. I shared that vision with leaders and much to my disappointment this "ministry" was denied multiple opportunities to "minister" elsewhere.
Well, I continued for 9 years with dancing Christmas, Easter, New Years and an occasional Mother's Day to fulfill the programming needs of the church. There was mild drama and conflict here and there until the enemy stepped in! In walks a new member with a not so new talent (dance) who wanted to lead a dance ministry. The leadership showed her favor and qualified her for leadership despite serious red flags regarding her motivation for leading and inability to follow. This is where the enemy used any and everyone to do his work in the church and there were members fleeing from the church.
I began to pray, read the word and definitely leaned on the Lord more during this process. I was betrayed and rejected by those I called "friend" and was hurt beyond measure........But God! In my reading I learned the difference between ministry vs program, how to forgive and show kindness despite mistreatment.
Powerful Praise Dance ministry was started as I stopped teaching dance at my church. God had given me a vision and without the confusion and madness I would have continued to ignore it!
This ministry is a calling that disciples young ladies. God has blessed me with a team of leaders whose hearts are set on eternity. God has allowed relationships to bloom with the young ladies and their families. Our focus is on giving our time and talents to the Lord and sharing the GOOD NEWS of Jesus Christ through dance!
Through the hurt and the pain, the sweat and the tears, God showed Himself mighty!
In 1 Peter 5:10 it states, "And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you."
